ORGANIZATIONAL/COMMUNITY GRANTS - GUIDELINES AND APPLICATION

Organization/Community Grants are available to provide funding for projects and programs that enhance quality of life, economic vitality, and community wellbeing.

Guidelines:

• Applicants must be located in or serve residents in our nine-county service area (Barry, Christian, Date, Greene, Jasper, Lawrence, Newton, Polk, and Stone).
• Application must be filled out completely.
• Applicants are not required to hold 501(c)3 status but must demonstrate a clear community benefit and appropriate oversight of funds.
• Eligible Applicants (include, but are not limited to):
• Non-profit organizations (501(c)3 or equivalent)
• Local government entities
• Churches, schools, and community-based organizations
• Civic groups, service organizations, and community associations
• Informal community groups with a defined project and responsible point of contact
• Eligible Uses (include, but are not limited to):
• Community development and improvement projects
• Public safety initiatives (equipment, training, outreach)
• Health and human services programs
• Youth development and recreation programs
• Educational or workforce development initiatives
• Community events with broad public benefit
• Ineligible Uses (include, but are not limited to):
• Political or lobbying activities
• Operational deficits or debt reduction
• Projects outside the cooperative's service area
• Projects that primarily benefit a single individual or private business
• Award Amount:
• Varies based upon project scope and available funding.
• Matching funds, partnerships, or in-kind contributions are viewed favorably but not required.
• Selection Criteria:
• Clear and measurable community impact
• Demonstrated need and purpose of the project
• Feasibility and readiness to execute
• Number of people or groups positively impacted
• Responsible stewardship of funds
• Accountability:
• A designated project lead is required
• Funds may be paid directly to vendors when appropriate
• Documentation (receipts, invoices, or summary) may be required
• Administration:
• Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed on a quarterly schedule by the Board of Trustees.
